COVID-19 Response and Resources

The COVID-19 health crisis is impacting all of us. As has been stated by others, there is no human enemy in this crisis - this is not one person’s or country’s fault. Our common humanity means that we all want, and deserve, happiness and health. Our interdependence means that what affects one of us affects us all.

In times like this, we especially encourage the use of the skills presented in the SEE Learning program to soothe our nervous system and help bring greater balance to the mind and body, and to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others.

What we are doing

Slowing the spread

SEE Learning is taking proactive steps to help prevent the spread of the virus by implementing recommended social distancing practices. To this end, we have decided to implement the following temporary changes. We will continue to monitor the situation and update our response as needed.

All staff are working remotely.Together with all the staff at the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University we have transitioned to remote working. However, because of the ever-evolving situation you may experience slower than normal response times to emails. If you have an urgent matter, please indicate such in the subject line of your email.

We have also postponed our upcoming educator preparation workshops through the month of August. We are also exploring the option of an alternative online/virtual format for future workshops. Currently, we are still planning on proceeding with our upcoming facilitator certification course, which is an online course.

Stand Alone SEE Learning Resources

whats not cancled

We are thrilled to offer a new group of materials that may be used in concert with the curriculum or simply as stand-alone resources. We are producing worksheets for home use or with remote learning, and just about anyone can use the them - we are keeping the reading level of the language around age 8 years. We are also producing graphics for social media with the hope that the resource will have an even wider reach.  All stand-alone materials will be shared via social media and on this special page in our Resources section as they become available.

Share Your Resources

To help us develop the most useful and relevant content, please help us by taking a moment to fill out a brief 3-question survey on what might help you and what resources you are finding helpful already . This is a way to share your experiences and resources with other educators in the SEE Learning community.

Practice Healthy Habits

Keeping yourself safe and healthy during this time is a powerful act of compassion that protects the health and well-being of others. We strongly encourage everyone to follow recommended practices by the WHO or local and national public health authorities regarding everyday precautions to help prevent the spread of all illness. A Special Message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama

In this special message from the Dalai Lama regarding the coronavirus pandemic, he appeals to everyone to do everything possible to care for the vulnerable members of our communities and offers this piece of advise:

“Faced with threats to our health and well-being, it is natural to feel anxiety and fear. Nevertheless, I take great solace in the following wise advice to examine the problems before us: If there is something to be done—do it, without any need to worry; if there’s nothing to be done, worrying about it further will not help.”
