Launch of SEE Learning™ Program

The Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics announces the official launch of the SEE Learning™ (Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning) Program in New Delhi, India, April 4–6, 2019 presided over by Nobel Peace Laureate and Emory University Presidential Distinguished Professor, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The launch is the culmination of more than two decades of educational collaboration between His Holiness and Emory University, the launch of the SEE Learning™ (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning) program and accompanying curricula—what His Holiness has often referred to as 'secular ethics."

This historic event will be held at the Andaz Hotel in Aerocity, New Delhi, with an invited audience of one thousand educators and policy leaders from more than thirty countries. It will also feature children’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi along with globally-recognized expert in social and emotional learning Kimberly Schonert-Reichl.

With support from Emory’s co-hosts, the Dalai Lama Foundation and the Vana Foundation,India, this special launch event will be live-streamed internationally at https://www.dalailama.com/live. During the launch event, the Emory SEE Learning team will present the program and curriculum; show examples of how SEE Learning is being implemented in different parts of the world and how teachers and students are responding; and engage in pedagogical demonstrations.

The SEE Learning program is made possible be the generosity of the Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama, the Yeshe Khorlo Foundation, the Pierre and Pamela Omidyar Fund, and the Walton Family Foundation.

About Our Co-Organizers

The vision of the Vana Foundation is to revive Indian wisdom. The foundation focuses on Indian wisdom, Indian farming, and Indian culture through its initiatives and activities, with an aspiration to benefit all, especially India and its youth. The foundation’s goals are to revive aspects of Indian culture, including music, food, textiles, art, and education.

The Dalai Lama Trust, India was established by the Dalai Lama to support the advancement and welfare of people in general, and Tibetans in particular, by providing financial support through grants and donations. Among its many activities, the trust provides support to people-oriented activities and projects encouraging and cultivating Ahimsa and nonviolence; to the propagation and advancement of education and learning; to projects that encourage a sense of universal responsibility in the young through educational systems; and to the eradication of poverty and suffering in whatever form it may exist.
